-As APC chair urges peaceful primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Primary election for Senatorial seats, scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2026, will hold at the Ikorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu.
APC Divisional Chairman, Otunba Olasunkanmi Tijani disclosed this to THE IMPACT, in an interview on Sunday.
He said that unlike other primaries which will hold across the 19 political wards in Ikorodu Division or Ikorodu Federal Constituency, the Senatorial primary election will be held only at the Ikorodu Town Hall, at 10am.
Otunba Tijani explained that the leadership of the APC, council chairmen, party chairmen and members of the party across the Lagos East, have adopted the incumbent Lagos East Senator, Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, as the consensus candidate of the party.

“Tomorrow’s senatorial primary election will not hold in the 19 wards in Ikorodu. Likewise, it will not hold across political wards in Lagos East since we have only one senatorial aspirant in Sen. Tokunbo Abiru who has been adopted as our consensus candidate.
“Don’t forget that the GAC chieftains in Lagos East have adopted him as the consensus candidate. So also are our elected council chairmen and party chairmen.
“So, what we are having tomorrow will just be ratification of the aspirant as the consensus candidate at the Ikorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu”.
The party chairman urged eligible party members across the 19 wards in Ikorodu, to come to the Ikorodu town hall with the APC membership slip for the senatorial primary election.

He also called for peaceful conduct of the remaining primary elections.
“We are expecting peaceful conduct in the senatorial, Assembly and other primary elections just like we had in the House of Representatives’ primary election.
“This is democracy. You have your choice. We have six aspirants for the Assembly contest. At least one of them will emerge. We want peace. Peace was exhibited on Saturday. We still want them to exhibit peace on Monday and on Wednesday, even throughout the whole primaries.

“I’m sure this is the way it will still go. There won’t be any problem. A winner will emerge and others will accept because we are going to be fair to all our aspirants. We are going to be very fair to all our aspirants”, Otunba Tijani assured.
